Lower Austria state competition: Most family-friendly companies honoured

BM Raab, LR Teschl-Hofmeister and WKNÖ President Ecker honoured family-friendly corporate culture and put Lower Austria's companies in the spotlight

St. Pölten (03.05.2022) In July last year, the starting signal was once again given for the "Family-friendly company" competition organised by the state of Lower Austria and the Lower Austrian Chamber of Commerce, which is a firmly established initiative in the family-friendly state of Lower Austria. The competition was concluded yesterday in St. Pölten as part of a festive award ceremony for the winning companies organised by Family Minister Susanne Raab, Regional Councillor for Family Affairs Christiane Teschl-Hofmeister and the President of the Lower Austrian Chamber of Commerce, Wolfgang Ecker.

From the total of 48 applications received, three Lower Austrian companies in each of the categories of small, medium-sized and large companies, non-profit organisations and public-sector companies have now been honoured for leading the way in terms of forms of employment, working time models, parental leave and re-entry, further training opportunities, family-friendly measures, information policy and corporate culture.

"The needs of families are constantly changing and with them the demands on the working environment. It is essential that we do our homework here on the political front and continuously develop the framework conditions for families in order to create a better work-life balance. However, employers will also have to act even more flexibly in future and create framework conditions to contribute to this. I am very pleased that there are already countless companies that are setting a positive example here," said Family Minister Raab.

"With the 'Family-Friendly Company' award, I would like to thank Lower Austrian companies in particular for being family-friendly employers with the measures they have put in place in the workplace, thus significantly supporting parents and guardians and, as a result, entire families in Lower Austria and enabling them to manage both - namely work and family life - well," said a delighted Family Minister Teschl-Hofmeister.

WKNÖ President Wolfgang Ecker emphasises: "Our companies already offer a lot for their employees to help them achieve a better work-life balance. These are often small things that are a matter of course for our companies and provide an incentive for employees. We want to make this visible. Because at the end of the day, both the employer and the employee benefit. If a mother or father can combine family life well with their job, they have a clear head and can concentrate better on their work."

The award-winning companies were presented with vouchers worth €1.500 euros for the winners, 1,000 euros for the runners-up and 500 euros each for the third-placed companies.
